Ora Myers celebrates his 80th birthday

Ora Myers, of Little York and formerly of Aledo, will celebrate his 80th birthday during an open house from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Greer's Back Home Cafe, 316 Third, Seaton.

Friends and family are invited to attend the birthday open house, hosted by Myers' family. Those unable to attend the event can send a card to R.R. 1 Box 110A, Little York, IL 61453.

Myers was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Blandinsville, the son of Ruby (Combites) and James Albert Myers. He married Irene Bellinger in 1950. He then married Dana Gibb in 1997. He has four children, JoVaughn (Jon Dale) Kelly of Macon, Missouri; and Ronald, John and Eric, all of Little York. He has two grandchildren, Johnna Kelly of Oak Park and Justin Kelly of Macon, Missouri.

Myers retired from the U.S. Army Reserves. He is a veteran of the Korean War.

He worked as a tractor mechanic at Thede Company in Aledo for 19 years. He also was employed by Monmouth Implement and Munson Transportation, both in Monmouth.

He is a life-time member of VFW Post 1571 and Midwest Old Thresherman's Association. He spends his spare time restoring and repairing tractors.
