Mary Furst to turn 90

Mary Furst will be honored by her granddaughters, Debbie DeKeyrel, Denise Pape, and Deanna Lee at an Open House/Card Shower on Sunday, July 5th at the Illinois City Hall from 1 to 4 p.m.

Mary was born to Amos and Gladys (Faulkner) Ziegenhorn on July 4, 1919 in Marked Tree, Arkansas. She married Milton Furst on Oct. 17, 1936 in Washington, Iowa. Milton passed away in February 2000.

They have three children: Gary (deceased) and Mitzi Furst, Washington, Ill.; Carroll and Louann Furst, Illinois City; and Deloris Pape, Illinois City.

Mary attended the United Methodist Church in Illinois City where she taught Sunday school and Bible School. She was also a member of Rose of Sharon.

Mary worked as a cook at the Illinois City Elementary School from 1965 until retiring in 1981. She and her husband bowled on two teams in Muscatine, Iowa. She is a member of Royal Neighbors of America.

Mary has eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
