James Anderson to celebrate 80th birthday

James M. Anderson of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of New Windsor, will celebrate his 80th birthday Aug. 17. A family dinner will be held in his honor on Friday, Aug. 14. Family will also attend rodeo activities during the week in New Windsor.

James was born on Aug. 17, 1929 in Alpha, to Martin and Marie Anderson. He graduated from Alpha High School and served in the US Marine Corps. He married Alberta Goben on Nov. 25, 1951 in Viola. He was employed at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline for 20 years until moving to Tucson in 1977. He worked for the University of Arizona’s Diary Farm Operations until his retirement in 1999. He is a member of Streams of the Desert Lutheran Church in Tucson.

He and his wife are the parents of four children: Nora (David) Steele of Silvis; Nancy (Richard) Mackel of Sahuarita, Ariz.; Jamie Kay (Lee) Saenz of Tucson, Ariz. and Martin Anderson of Tucson, Ariz.

There are seven grandchildren: Kimberly (Shawn) Brawley of Tucson, Ariz.; Amanda (Jerry) Babcock of Fort Meade, M.D.; Krista (Gabe) Stern of Austin, Texas; Kara Miller of Wausau, Wisc.; Jenna (Jake) Klossner of Punta Gorda, Fla.; Jessica (Chris Jackson) Kistler of Moline; and Kristopher Saenz of Tucson, Ariz. A grandson, Corey Miller, is deceased.

There are also 13 great-grandchildren: Destiny, Mackel-Coffaro, Jerry Babcock III, Autumn Mackel-Coffaro, Jolie Munger, Teagan Miller, Caden Klossner, Zoe Stern, Landon Miller, Jaliyah Jackson, Dylan Klossner, Cannon Jackson, Eli Stern and Brayden Mackel.

Birthday greetings can be sent to James at his daughter’s residence in Silvis: 1120-8th Avenue, Silvis, IL 61282, as he and his wife will be spending the month of August in Illinois.
