Richard and Shirley Child to observe 60th anniversary

Richard and Shirley Child of Matherville, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Family and friends are invited to an open house for them at The Eagle's Hall in Matherville on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 2-4 p.m. They have requested for gifts to please be omitted.

Richard Child and Shirley Watne were married Oct. 16, 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa.

Shirley is a homemaker. Richard owned Child's Motor Sales in Matherville and retired in 1995.

They belong to First Lutheran Church, Sherrard.

The have three children; Rick (Priscilla) Child, Milan, David (Susie) Child, Matherville, and Karen (Michael) Adolphson; seven grandchildren: Jamie Child, Matherville, Heather Clark, Indianapolis, Sarah Foster, Matherville, Brad Child, Orion, Bryce Adolphson, Lindsey King, Aledo and Brock Adolphson, Orion; five great-grandchildren: Katelyn Child, Ethan and Addison Adolphson, Ella King and Kylie Foster.
