Ruth Schillinger to celebrate 90th birthday

Ruth F. Schillinger, formerly of Viola and Aledo, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Oct. 28, 2009, with her son Jack and family in Strasburg, Va. Ruth moved to Strasburg in 2000 to live near her son.

Attending the festivities at Jack's home will be her daughter-in-law Elisabeth, granddaughter Liesl, of New York City; grandsons Justin and Nathaniel, of suburban Washington, DC; their wives; and three great- grandchildren, August, Guinevere and Dane. Also taking part in the celebration will be Connie Mitchell, her long-time friend and companion, formerly of Viola.

Ruth was married for 55 years to the late John F. Schillinger, who died in 1994. Their daughter Jill Louise passed away in 1998.

The Schillingers moved to Aledo in 1941 and then to Viola in 1956. Both were active in local business activities and many civic organizations. For many years ruth was the owner of the Viola Flower and Gift Shop.
