Viola Christmas Walk is Dec. 4

Santa will be at the Viola Fire Station on Friday, Dec. 4, during the Viola Christmas Walk.

The Viola Christmas walk is Friday, Dec. 4, and has some changes from a year ago. While many businesses will remain open from 3-7 p.m. There will also be several businesses with booths at Winola Elementary School from 4-8 p.m. This is the first year the school will be open for the Christmas Walk.

Santa Claus will meet people at the fire station in Viola from 5-7 p.m. At 7 p.m. an old-fashioned fire truck will transport Santa and Mrs. Claus to Winola Elementary School for the festivities there.

The Country Kids 4-H group is presenting a live nativity scene at the gazebo by the fire station.

Among the activities at Winola Elementary School will be a cookie sale, kids games and a band.

The Viola Park Committee is hosting several kids' games. Greg Feik's band Vintage Reissue will play from 6-8 p.m. The band will play classic country, classic rock and Christmas Carols.

At 7 p.m. the winners of the lighting contest will be announced and there will be a prize drawing for winners of the chamber promotions. Chamber prizes range from $20 Viola bucks to a Jim Shore Nativity set.

The chamber is also sponsoring a wreath contest this year with the proceeds going to the food pantry. The Chamber of Commerce will also have a special announcement that evening at 7:15 p.m. at Winola Elementary.
