Vera Lafever turns 90 on Jan. 14

Please join us in a 90th birthday celebration honoring Vera Lafever on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at The Depot, Aledo from 12-3 p.m.

Vera Elaine Lafever turns 90 years old on Jan. 14, 2010. The former Vera Doonan was born in Preemption Township. She was married to Loyd Lafever on Aug. 28, 1943, in St. Louis. Vera was the manager of Walgreen Drug Store lunch room in Moline, at the time of her marriage. She later worked at the ASC office in Aledo. She retired in 1994 after 34 years as bookkeeper at Westmer CWSD No. 203.

They had two daughters, Janet Ward and Ethel Christianson. She has four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one step-grandchild and five step-great-grandchildren.

Vera is a fun-loving person with a compassionate heart. She loves people and people love her. She currently plays 500 in various card clubs, visits friends at the local nursing home, is an active member of Hamlet Presbyterian Church, is an avid reader of The Times Record. She has an amazing memory for dates and special events for her loved ones, and her extended family of friends.
