Jim and Betty Munson celebrate 40th anniversary

Jim and Betty Munson, New Boston are celebrating their 40th anniversary at an open house at 206 Main St., New Boston from 4-6 p.m. Friends and family are invited to help celebrate.

They were married on April 3, 1970, in Milan. The officiating minister was Jay Cleharec. They’ve lived in New Boston for 30 years, but went to Springfield, Ohio for six years for Jim to retire from IH Navastar. He worked at IH in Rock Island, retiring in May of 1994.

Betty worked in home healthcare and also ran the fish market they owned until she retired on Labor Day, September, 1988.

Jim is a member of the Masonic Lodge #59 in New Boston. Jim has been master mason two times in New Boston and once for the Lodge in Keithsburg.

Betty was a volunteer on the New Boston Ambulance crew as an EMT.

Their children are Cindy Moulds, Niki Scull, Lori Szymarek and Bill Lutrell, all of New Boston. Tina Richardson of Colbert, Washington, Russ Munson of Arkansas, Donna Badgett of Creston, Iowa and Karen Nickles of Earlham, Iowa.

Jim and Betty have 17 grandchildren and 15 or more great-grandchildren.
