Robert and Barbara Bird celebrate golden anniversary

Robert and Barbara Bird of rural Aledo will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday, April 10. Bob Bird and Barb Hays were married on April 10, 1960, by Rev. Glenn Catlin, at the Center Presbyterian Church in Seaton.

Their first home was the old Scaley Point School east of Seaton. Two years later they moved a mile north to the family farm where they reside today. They raised three children: Vicki (Cliff) Darwin and Connie Jensen, both of Aledo, and Robert (Rita) Bird of Seaton. They have three grandchildren; Michael and James Darwin, both of Davenport, Iowa, and Katy (Joe) Winner of Pittsfield.

Bob is retired from farming and his carpentry and roofing business. Barb is retired as a long-term nurse’s aide at Mercer County Nursing Home.

An open house will be held Saturday, April 10 from 2-4 p.m. at the Sunbeam Presbyterian Church. All family and friends are invited. The couple requests only your presence and shared memories.
