Mary Todd Lincoln to address Mercer County Historical Society

Mary Todd Lincoln will address the Mercer County Historical Society at 7 p.m. April 19 at the Essley-Noble Museum.

All persons interested in history are invited to hear Mary Todd Lincoln, as impersonated by Dr. Marrietta Castle, at the Spring meeting of the Mercer County Historical Society at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Essley-Noble Museum. School children are especially invited.

Dr. Castle bases her interpretation on extensive research of Mrs. Lincoln's life, including the letters and documents discovered in 2005. Mrs. Lincoln covers her eventful life with the 16th president and their family.

Dr. Castle received her PH D, from the University of Iowa and is Emerita Professor of Western Illinois University. As a literary consultant for the past 16 years, Dr. Castle has worked with schools to improve reading and writing instruction. She is a Rock Island resident.
