Clarks to celebrate a birthday and anniversary

Loren C. Clark of Viola will celebrate his 90th birthday with an open house reception on May 2 from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Viola Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Loren was born in Smithshire on April 28, 1920 and attended Seaton High School and the University of Illinois. His parents were Homer and Mary Clark of Aledo.

He married Mary Ellen Livingston of rural Little York on April 18, 1942. The Clarks are also celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary during the open house on May 2. All friends and customers are invited to share this special day with the Clark family.

The Clarks have lived in Viola since 1966. Loren has owned and operated LORCO Water Conditioning since 1971 and Mary has been employed by Mercer County Hospital since 1968.

Loren, a World War II veteran, is a member of the American Legion and numerous professional organizations. He is an avid fan of local high school and college sports teams. The Clarks are known for gifts of produce from their many gardens and fruit trees, as well as jam, jelly and baked goods from their kitchen.

Their children are Grace Johnson and Jim Pransky of Davenport, Iowa; Jim Clark and Terri Clemons of Chicago; Nancy and Bob Dillard of Galesburg; Donna and Son Truong of Los Angeles, Calif. and Larry (deceased) and Etta Clark of Houston, Texas. Their grandchildren are Bett and Heidi Clark, Christopher and Michael Clark, Bryan and Melanie Dillard, Amy and Brooke Truong, Katie and Emily Dillard and Lindsay Clark, Cassie and Preston Miller, Megan Clark, Austin and Jadyn Clark.
