Vintage Corn Planting demo to be held at Black Hawk College – East Campus
On Tuesday, May 11, a couple of unique demonstrations will be taking place in the organic field plots just east of the Black Hawk College - East Campus entrance. (Black Hawk College-East Campus - 26230 Black Hawk Road - Galva, IL)
At 10:30 a.m., a Horse Care & Training demo will be held followed by a vintage corn planting demo at 11 a.m.
David Jensen of Sheffield will be planting corn in the organics field using a team of Percheron horses pulling a Hayes Check-Row 2-row corn planter. The planter was manufactured by the Hayes Pump & Planter Company of Galva. in the early 1900s and has been refurbished by the college's ag mechanics department.
A rain date has been set for Thursday, May 13.
