Remembrance cermemony for Lt. Col. Robert Baldwin is today from 3-7 p.m.

More than 500 Flags line the avenue leading to the Eliza Community Center.

A Remembrance for Lt. Col. Robert Baldwin will be held at the Eliza Community Center from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 30. The address for this event is 557 155th Ave. New Boston, Illinois 61272.

Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Lt. Col. Robert Baldwin was killed in action in Afghanistan recently.  

Gary Baldwin, father of Major Baldwin, advised that Rob has been posthumously advanced to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the Army.

The Eliza Ladies Aid will be providing sandwiches, salads and deserts.

An avenue of 549 flags has been set up for two miles along 155th Avenue leading to the Eliza Community Center.

"It took four hours to put them up," said volunteer Dick Nash.

The flags were placed by volunteers on Wednesday, Sept. 29 and will be taken down Friday, Sept. 30 at about 11 a.m.
