Carl Sandburg College will showcase the works of area photographers in an exhibit titled “Take 10: Ten Regional Photographers,” from Jan. 21 to March 1 in the D Building Gallery at the Main Campus.

Featured photographers include John Vellenga, Mike Godsil, John Van Kirk, Robert Lee Mejer, Tom Foley, Tim Shroll, Michael Behrens, Ann Conver, Fritz Goeckner, and Rich Ankeney. Each photographer will have three prints on display, comprised of work in the areas of still life, landscape, figurative work and other genres.

“This is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the community to see photos in a variety of styles, using a variety of techniques,” said Lisa Mohr, art program coordinator at CSC. “There is interesting and innovative work represented in this display.”

A public reception will take place on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. “The opening reception will also be an opportunity for anyone interested in taking photos to talk to the artists, and be inspired by their work,” said Mohr.

The D Building Gallery was established in 2006, and has hosted group faculty exhibits and juried student exhibits. In August 2010, the “Ken Hoffman: Animal Portraits” show became the first exhibit from outside the college. “Take 10: Ten Regional Photographers” draws artists from Iowa and Illinois and will be the college’s first regional show.

The featured photographers reside in cities including Burlington, Galesburg, Monmouth, Peoria, Macomb and the Quad Cities area.
