Area struggles to overcome weather

Mercer County as well much of the state is working to overcome the recent snow storm. Schools were closed again Thursday throughout Mercer County. Residents are now fighting off sub zero temperatures to go with most areas reporting more than 10 inches of snow.

There were two fatal weather related accidents Tuesday in the county. Accidents claimed the lives of Yancy McIntosh of Aledo and nathaniel Rhoades of Keithsburg.

Numerous other cancelations due to the storm have been reported throughout the area.

Ameren still had nearly 3,000 customers without power in the state as off noon Thursday, Feb. 3.

A wind chill advisory was in effect Wednesday morning as temperatures reached -10 degrees throughout the county.
