The City of Moline has been preparing for potential flooding for the past several weeks and work continues. With flood predictions showing the probability of flooding likely this year, Moline has implemented its flood response plan.

According to the forecast by the National Weather Service, there is a 65 percent probability that the Mississippi River will reach 22.6 feet, which was the record level in 1993. Flood stage is 15 feet.

Volunteers are needed to help fill and place sandbags in the City of Moline.  The volunteer sandbag filling operation will take place from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27. Volunteers should report to the Moline Municipal Services Center, 3635 - 4th Avenue.

Shoes covering toes are required. Work gloves are suggested, but spare gloves will be provided for volunteers who need them. In case of inclement weather, sandbagging will take place indoors.
