After a nearly one-half hour closed session Monday, May 16, 2011, the Aledo City Council came back into session and unanimously agreed to  a two-year contract for Stephen Moller, director of public works. Moller's salary was set at $62,000 a year.

Terry Dove, recently appointed Aledo Chief of Police and city administrator, was approved on a 7-1 vote for his new expanded position and an annual salary of $65,000. Alderman Tab Balmer voted no to the contract.

In addition, Moller's contract was revised to include 30 days of sick leave annually, to be in line with Moller's contract. The contracts take effect June 6.

Janice Green's (current city administrator) last day in that position is June 3. She will be continuing with the city in a part-time capacity working with the city's finances.

The city also gave a plaque of appreciation to Dr. Jeremy Joy, DVM, for his support of Aledo's K-9 program and free care to Molly, the black lab K-9 officer.
