Helen Sommers to celebrate 90th birthday

Helen M. Sommers, Sherrard, will observe her 90th birthday on May 19. She will be honored at a family dinner to celebrate the event.

The former Helen Taets was born May 19, 1921, in Rock Island. She married Keith "Bud" Sommers, Rock Island, on April 19, 1941, in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Rock Island. He died Jan. 3, 1987.

She is the mother of Mary Lou (Jack, deceased) Stoneking and Susanne (Tony) Pasdach, both of Sherrard. There are five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Helen maintains her home where she and her husband farmed most of their married life.
