CSC Presents Summer and Fall Film Series
Carl Sandburg College is pleased to announce the summer and fall film series to be held at the CSC Auditorium located at 1160 Buchanan St. in Carthage, Ill. The summer series will feature two Disney musicals, “Mary Poppins” starring Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and David Tomlinson at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, and “Enchanted” starring Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon, and James Marsden at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 14.
Offered as part of the Carl Sandburg College Community Education program, the series will examine the musicals that feature live action, animation and special effects, but were made more than 30 years apart. While viewing the two films, audience members will be able to examine the changes in Disney filmmaking due to technological advances.
The fall series will feature four classic western films that examine the impact of the western film genre on the issues in American society and culture during the 1930s to 1960s. The films, each beginning at 7 p.m., include “Stagecoach” on Tuesday, Sept. 20; “High Noon” on Tuesday, Oct. 18; “Hang ’Em High” on Tuesday, Nov. 15; and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
The cost for the summer film series is $10. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Summer business hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registrations will be taken at the Branch Campus, 305 Sandburg Drive, Carthage, until noon on June 16, and at the CSC Auditorium from 1-1:30 p.m. on June 16. The films are general admission; however, Seats for Life patrons must register by 4 p.m. Monday, June 13, to reserve their seat for the series. The fall film series will cost $25.
