The River Bandits will host Aledo Community night on Friday, Aug. 12, 2011 at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Aledo Area Chamber of Commerce members sold around 158 tickets.

Anyone from Aledo wanting to attend the game who hasn't already arranged for a ticket that evening just needs to bring proof of living in Aledo for a $1 off discount ticket into the game.

"It's a fun time. I definitely recommend you come up there," said Chamber president Mary Kay Crawford. The River Bandits will be playing the Burlington Bees that night and there are fireworks after the game.

Guest speaker at the Aug. 9, Aledo Area Chamber of Commerce was Terry Dove, Aledo police chief and city administrator. He talked about some of the work being done in Aledo.

He said that one thing Mayor Bill Breeden is keen to start is developing an economic development strategy. He is in the process of selecting committee members with the task of defining issues, establishing priorities, making recommendations and strategies for the Aledo City Council to approve.

"We need to continue to bring people into Aledo, not lose them," said Dove.
