Verna Gerber is turning 90

Verna Gerber of Aledo will celebrate her 90th birthday on Wednesday, Jan. 25 with a family dinner. Birthday greetings may be sent to: Verna Gerber, 401 NW 2nd Ave, Aledo, IL 61231.

Verna French was born Jan. 25, 1922 in Aledo. She married H.M. (Mike) Gerber in 1947. He passed away in 2005.

She spent 30 years teaching in the Keithsburg and Aledo School Districts ata Ohio Grove, Marston, and retired from Apollo in 1987.

Mike and Verna had two children, son Kent (Connie) Gerber, Aledo and daughter Kim (Al) Wilcox. Kim passed away in 2009. She has three grandchildren Traci (Don) Yates, Jon (Kathy Marlow) Gerber, and Brian (Kayde) Gerber, and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Yates, Karlee and Tinlee Gerber.
