The 111th Annual Drury-Reynolds Memorial Day Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 27, at the Drury-Reynolds Cemetery in lower Rock Island County, Drury Township, approximately four miles from Muscatine.

The guest speaker will be Jim Nichols, a local Civil War re-enactor.  The theme for this year’s service is the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War.  We will also be offering a biography on the two men buried in the cemetery who were killed in the Civil War, Enos McNall and William Scribe Drury.  Any descendants of these two families are encouraged to attend and contact the biographer, Julie Wagner, at 309-791-1306.

All veterans attending will be invited to participate in the Veterans’ March and Placing of the Wreath. The 21-gun salute will be performed by the VFW Post No. 1565 Honor Guard from Muscatine. Taps will be played by Janet Clark.  Vocalist will be Stephanie Carey.  Attendees will be able to place poppies on the graves of veterans.

Refreshments will be provided, and please remember to bring a lawn chair. The service will be held rain or shine. For more information, call Diane Hessman at 537-3391 or Laurie Carpenter at 537-3231.
