‘Blockbuster Firsts’ Film Series at Sandburg Auditorium
Carl Sandburg College will present the “Blockbuster Firsts” film series during the 2012 fall semester at the Sandburg Auditorium, 1160 Buchanan St., Carthage. The series will include the first films in four of the most popular blockbuster franchises ever made.
“For many, they might not have not had the opportunity to see these films on a large screen like the one in the Sandburg Auditorium, and this series will give them the opportunity to do so,” said Debra Miller, dean of extension services at Sandburg’s Branch Campus.
The series begins Sept. 18 with “Star Wars,” released in 1977 and starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. It will be followed by “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark,” released in 1981 and starring Harrison Ford, Karen Allen and Paul Freeman, on Oct. 16; “Back to the Future,” released in 1985 and starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, on Nov. 13; and “Batman,” released in 1989 and starring Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton and Kim Basinger, on Dec. 11. All shows will begin at 7 p.m.
General admission is $7 for each film or $25 for the series. For more information, call the Sandburg Branch Campus in Carthage at 217.357.3129 ext. 0.
