Big week for Aledo Band Shell

The sixth annul Mark Stead Music Festival is June 18.

The week of June 13 is a big week for the Aledo Band Shell. There will three events right in a row.

144th Army Dixieland Band

The 144th Army Dixieland Band will perform at 7 p.m. June 16. The band is stationed at Camp Lincoln in Springfield The members of the band meet one weekend each month for rehearsals and performances and spend an additional 15 days throughout the year supporting military and civilian events as part of their Annual Training.

The group is made up of 38 citizen-soldiers from all over the state and the surrounding area. The band works to promote readiness by performing music that raises troop morale and promotes the spirit of the corps.

Air Combat Command F-15 Strike Demo Team

June 17 - Before the Cinema @ Central (Despicable Me) The Air Combat Command F-15 Strike Demo Team will give a short presentation.  Blakeley Murdock, a graduate of Aledo High School, is a member of this Air Force Demo team.  They will be in town for the Quad City Air Show.  Info on this group is here: http://www.acc.af.mil/aerialevents/strikeeagle/index.asp

Mark Stead Festival

June 18 - 6th Annual Mark Stead Festival - noon - 6 p.m.  Dinners served the night of the festival go to the Mercer County Beginning Band program. This Festival has purchased eight horns for kids over the past six years.
