Mark Stead Music Festival is June 16
Please mark your calendars for one of the most exciting events of the summer. The 7th Annual Mark Stead Music Festival will be held on Saturday, June 16 in Aledo Central Park starting at noon with great tunes by the Fry Daddies. Other acts will include Big Rusty Friends, Partners In Crime, Bill Harroun and the Sin City Orchestra. BBQ meals will be served for lunch and for dinner all day. The meal will include Bonnie Stead’s homemade pie for dessert! All proceeds from this event will benefit the Mercer County Beginning Band program so please join us for a fun filled day of music on June 16. Over the past years, the Festival has purchased 18 horns for Beginning Band students at Mercer County Intermediate School. We had our best year last year and hoping to continue the success!
Mark A. Stead, 32, of Joy, passed away on Saturday November 5, 2005 as a result of a one vehicle accident near Oquawka. Mark was a musician and a drummer and played for area bands including the 7 Day Band, Swinging Johnsons, Misdirected Blues, Caucasian Invasion, Ghost of Neil, Buckshot as well as jamming with friends on a consistent basis. Mark was a friend to all and would have loved a music festival that supports the local Band Programs.
