Area churches' concert to support malaria relief

A Malaria No More benefit concert will bring several area church praise bands to Aledo from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 in the Aledo Band Shell. Praise bands from Aledo United Methodist Church., Illinois City UMC, Reynolds UMC, Moline/ Riverside UMC, Christ UMC, Geneseo UMC, as well as some local musicians from Antioch Baptist and a Men’s chorus “The Called.” from Moline are on the program as well as local soloist Sarah Jahn and Steve Schuler. They will all use their gifts to help fight malaria.

Esther Lamidi. an African student  from Western Illinois University, will also speak about living with Malaria.

Every 30 seconds, an innocent child in Africa dies of Malaria, all caused by a parasite transmitted through the bite of a tiny mosquito. Malaria is preventable, treatable and beatable. We are uniting faith and works to share the resources that help overcome malaria in Africa. ($10 can safe a life.) We need your gift.
