Benefit for longtime firefighter James Faulkner set

A benefit to help offset medical costs for the family of James Faulkner of Joy, will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at the Joy Fire Station, starting at 3 p.m. He died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, after a short battle with cancer. Faulkner was a volunteer fire fighter in Joy for around 42 years.

A group of his friends and members of the fire department are holding the fund-raiser that will include a fire department sponsored drawing for an LCD-HD 32-inch television, which will be drawn at the fire department's October Taco Dinner.

There will be an auction at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20, of donated items, as well as a silent auction for basket items. Anyone wishing to make donations for this can contact Phil or Karen Fogelsong, 106 E Edwards, Joy, or by phone at (309) 584-4394. A bake sale, 50-50 drawing and food are also part of the fund-raiser. Menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, cole slaw, hot dots, chips coffee, tea or lemonade, for a donation.
