Drury-Reynolds Memorial Day Service
The 109th Annual Memorial Day Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 30, at the Drury Reynolds Cemetery, which is located in lower Rock Island County approximately four miles from Muscatine. The guest speaker will be Bob Morrison, the director of the Honor Flight of the Quad-Cities.
The service will be a tribute to all who have served in the United States military, but there will be a special focus on remembering World War II veterans and their experiences. (If you are a WWII veteran and plan to attend, please contact Julie Wagner at 309-537-3657 by May 21. This will help us in planning for the special recognition.) In addition, a collection will be taken for the Honor Flight, which allows World War II veterans to tour the national war memorials in Washington D.C.
All veterans in attendance will be invited to participate in the Veterans' March and Placing of the Wreath. The 21 gun salute will be performed by the VFW Post 1565 Honor Guard from Muscatine. Taps will be played by Janet Clark. Vocal music will be provided by Stephanie Carey. All who attend will have the opportunity to place poppies on the graves of veterans following the service. Refreshments will be served..
