Come celebrate World Day of Sign Languages Sept. 9-10 at Black Hawk College!

All events are free and open to the public. There will be refreshments and information about sign language and how to learn it. Sign language interpreters will be available both days. Wear the color turquoise to show your support for this event.

Friday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

·       Deaf magician Rickie Rowray

·       DVD of a deaf rapper from Finland

·       Deaf speaker from QCIAD

·       CD of signs around the world

Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon

·       World Day of Sign Languages presentation

·       Deaf speaker Laura Thomas from the Helen Keller Regional Center

·       Deaf speaker from QCIAD

·       Deaf magician/balloonist Rickie Rowray

·       Face painting, games and prizes

All events will in the lower lobby of Building 1 at the Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.

Sponsors include the Black Hawk College Foundation, the BHC Student Success Center, BHC Disability Services, the Illinois/Iowa Center for Independent Living, the Quad Cities Chapter of the Illinois Association of the Deaf and the Scott Community College Interpreter Training Program Club.
