The Black Hawk College East Campus officially launched its 2011 United Way Campaign on Wednesday, Oct. 5 with a “Happy Joe’s Kickoff Fundraiser.”

Just by buying lunch, students made a contribution to the United Way campaign and learned about the local agencies supported by the Kewanee Area United Way.

The Student Government Association also sold paper hands as part of the “Give a Hand” fundraiser. The goal is to cover the cafeteria windows with more than 1,000 paper hands showing the names of United Way supporters.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Black Hawk College United Way committee hosted “A Yard Sale Like No Other.” A used tack, clothes and horse equipment sale at the BHC Barrel Race on Saturday, Oct. 15 also will benefit United Way.
