Early in August, Ed Tarr celebrated his 30th birthday with a family party on his birthday at Ed and Brandy's house in Seaton. Then on Saturday, Aug. 9 he had a party for friends also at their home.

Other birthdays in the area include Skip Bush's on Aug. 5 and his wife, Wendy's on Aug. 15. Brian Greer, son of Cyndee and Bob Stockham and Larry Greer celebrated his 23rd birthday on Aug. 6 and Bob Stockham's daughter Victoria celebrated her 18th birthday on Aug. 18 just after she started her senior year at Sherrard High School. Victoria recently started working at Perks Hair Salon in Aledo. Janie Currie celebrated her birthday on Aug. 16 and her neighbor Justin Melton celebrated his 18th birthday on Aug. 23.

Sympathy goes out to Roberta "Bert" Luker of Seaton and her family on the loss of her mother, M. Jean Martin. Jean, of Aledo, 76, passed away on Aug. 15. Seaton residents might remember when Jean and her partner, Jean, ran the J&J Restaurant here in town several years ago. Jean also was known for her tacos at a couple of Mercer County establishments for a few years.

End of the summer vacations have been plentiful. Dave and Carrie Clawson went on a long boat trip up the river into Wisconsin with a group of about 14. They were gone during the earlier part of August. When they got back Carrie and her mother took the girls, Mackenzie and Mckayla and friend Rachel Hawk and cousin Carlee Stineman to Six Flags Great America for a day before school started. They were celebrating Mckayla and Mackenzie's birthdays.

Coming up on Sept. 13 is the 3rd Annual Poker Run and Benefit for MDA\ALS Association (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in memory of Robin Laughlin starting in Aledo at Scooter's.
