Trick or Treat hours have been set for Friday evening Oct. 31 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Village of Seaton. Residents who want to treat the little ghost and goblins should turn their porch lights on. Daylight savings time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday morning on Nov. 2.

Denise Ganpat and sons, Grant and Blake of Ankeny, Iowa, were weekend visitors in the home of her parents, David and Marcia Duncan. They celebrated Grant's seventh birthday with Bill and Amy Duncan and sons, Trenton, and Cael over for birthday cake. Wayne and Polley Duncan also joined them. The Ganpats also enjoyed a long ride in the combine. On Sunday great-grandmother Ida Duncan, of Aledo, took them out for dinner and visiting later at her home in Aledo.

Art Byrne, 80, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Monday, Oct. 13. Services for Art's passing were Thursday, Oct. 16 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Sympathy goes out to his widow, Anna, daughter Sue and husband William also of Seaton and daughter, Karen Wooddell of Aledo. Karen and Sue helped tremendously with the care of their father. Art is also survived by daughter, Rosemary Gorgol of Melbourne, Fla., Elaine Webber of Ottawa, Lorie McCaskey of Homosassa, Fla. and one son, Robert of Streator, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. .

Ida Steepleton of Seaton had breakfast Wednesday morning at Denny's by the airport in Moline with family. Her brother-in-law, Walt Kester, and his son from Oregon were driving through the area so Ida and her brother Bob Gordon of Rock Island and sister Patty and Lloyd DeShane of Cambridge all got together. Walt and his son were on their way to Mountain home, Arkansas.
