The Aledo Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the second annual Hot Chocolate Hustle 5K run/walk on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 8 a.m. with the starting gate at Aledo Central Park. All proceeds from this event will go to the Aledo Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund. The race is a fun & festive way to celebrate the holidays, promote wellness and to invest in the future of the children in our community.

The race is held on a 3.1 mile course and open for both runners and walkers. There will be splits located at each mile mark, with one water station situated on the course. There will be course marshaling and safety protection available during the run, according to race director Traci Cook.

Race packets can be picked up on Friday, Dec. 19, between 4-6 p.m. at Perks Cafe and Coffee Shop, 205 S. College Ave., Aledo, or from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. on the race morning at the Central Park band shell.

Registration fee is $15 and all people who register prior to Dec. 19 will receive a long sleeved, race logo shirt. Shirts for late registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Race day entry fee is $20.

The top finisher in each division will receive awards.

Cook says last year's race exceeded all expectations.. "Last year was a huge success and despite the treacherous weather, there were 100 runners. Through the monetary donations and support of local businesses the Chamber was able to raise more than $3,000 for its scholarship fund," said Cook.

Besides raising money from racer entry fees, sponsors are being sought at the $100, $50, $25 levels, or for any other amount. To join in the sponsorship, call the AACC at (309) 582-5373, or mail support checks to Aledo Area Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 261, Aledo, IL 61231.
