Eliza Township is holding its township caucus Jan. 13, 2009 at the Eliza Community Center. Nominations will be taken for the following township offices: supervisor, clerk, highway commissioner, four trustees and three board of managers. The Republican caucus will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the old gym and the Democratic caucus will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Darla’s Room. The township meeting this month is Jan. 12 at the Eliza Community Center at 7 p.m. The board of managers met Jan. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the community center.

The Eliza Community Club met at 7 p.m. on Jan. 6 at the Eliza Community Center.

The Eliza Lions Club held its pancake supper Jan. 3 with proceeds benefiting the Eliza Community Center.

The Lions Club will meet at the Eliza Country Kafe on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. for the regular meeting and Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. for the dinner meeting. The Eliza firemen will be dinner guests of the Lions at that meeting.

The Eliza Lions Club, as always, collects old glasses or other vision assisting devices, hearing aides and supplies and any diabetic instruments that could be passed along to the needy.

The Eliza Community Church Sunday School has been involved in collecting funds to purchase a water buffalo for Heifer Project International. The generosity of many netted $736, which was enough to purchase two water buffalos plus many other animals.

The Ladies Aid will not meet in January or February.
