Aledo School board discusses multiple issues in January meeting

At the Aledo School board meeting Jan. 12 Aledo Superintendent of Schools Alan Boucher agreed to meet with architects Jan. 15 to do a final examination of the new gym floor and south bleachers so it can be presented to the board. The board will look at those bids during the summer of 2009 to complete the projects.

The board is considering a few early dismissals during the spring so teachers from the Aledo and Westmer districts can meet to discuss curriculum issues. Administrators will meet with Interim Superintendent Frank Bockman on Friday to discuss how many days will be needed.

The Lincoln Trail Conference is exploring the possibility of adding one to two more members. There are currently eight teams in the LTC and it would like 10 schools if possible to make scheduling games easier. The LTC is exploring the possibility of  a cooperative agreement with the Prairieland Conference for the 2010-11 school year.

The board voted 6-0 for a resolution of appreciation for the PTO, music and athletic boosters. "We are very mindful of all the things are parent volunteers do," said Boucher.

Apollo School cook Mary Vipond submitted her resignation after 15 years with the district.

The board approved a settlement appending TRS approval with a teacher regarding a pay dispute.
