All in one week!

Staff reports

The Aledo Branch of Midwest Bank of Western Illinois was destroyed by a fire early Sunday morning, Jan. 18. On Tuesday they opened for business in downtown Aledo, now one week later they have moved in to a temporary mobile bank trailer located at the branch location at 104 Southeast 3rd Street.

President Chris Gavin, stated "That the bank's disaster recovery team went into action lead by Chief Operating Officer Aaron Jensen. The Branch was only closed for business one day. Vice President of Lending Rex Johnson located a temporary place to use at 113 South College Avenue. Vice President and Branch Manager Faye Eckhart and staff set up the branch and opened on Tuesday morning Jan. 20 for business. The temporary mobile Bank has two teller stations, an office and a drive-up window. Thanks to a great number of local businesses coming to our aid the transition has been phenomenal."

Rex Johnson said, He will maintain the lending office at the 113 South College Avenue in downtown Aledo. His hours will be the same as the branch however he will have a different phone number (309) 582-5285.

Gavin said that it has not been fully disclosed as to what caused the fire but it appears to have started in an electrical area. "We have hired Frye Builders to start the rebuilding of the branch and anticipate that it may take about nine months to complete the job." Gavin added "I think the speed of getting the branch up and running in such a short time indicates our commitment and ties to the Aledo community. If you have not been in one of these temporary mobile banks before you should stop by and take a tour, you will be surprised at how nice it is."

Hours will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday 8 a.m. to Noon; Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. to Noon. The drive-up will have the same hours except it will be open on Fridays until 6 p.m. The phone number for the branch is (309) 582-5365.
