 The Seaton Fire Department Pancake Day is on Saturday, March 21. The serving of pancakes and sausages with beverages included will be from 6 -10 a.m. at the Seaton Fire Station. Donations will be accepted and there will be chances sold on a 50-50 drawing.

Jeanne Bennett of Seaton and her sister Jamie of Galesburg and their children, Ayden, Jeanne's son and Devin, Jamie's daughter took a long weekend trip to Denver, Colorado a couple of weeks ago. They left on Friday and had no trouble with the weather or bad road conditions. While there they visited the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center, the Denver Zoo and climbed part way up Pike's Peak. Jeanne mentioned how beautiful the scenery was and they all had a great time. They got back on Tuesday. 

Christian Weeks, son of Shelley and Pete Robinson of rural Seaton celebrated his 15th birthday with a party at Happy Joe's. He was actually sick on the weekend of his birthday which is the 16th and had to miss a school dance and postpone his party. The next weekend his grandparents, Scott and Judy Weeks of Aledo and his parents and sister Emily, brother Thane and step-sister Shannon all enjoyed pizza and cake and ice cream at Happy Joe's.

Other birthdays in the Seaton area include Marilyn Hollembaek on Feb. 28, Francisco Plaza had a birthday on March 3 and Amanda Gray had one on March 11.

The Aledo Junior High wrestling team competed in IESA Regional Wrestling Tournament at Macomb Junior  High School on Saturday, Feb. 28. The team won the event for the second year in a row with several on the squad qualifying for Sectionals March 7, 2009 in Chatham. Winning for the Green Dragons were at 85 lbs.- Bryce Skiles 1st and Ben Fippinger 4th, 90 lbs.- Curtis VanWinkle 1st, 95 lbs.- Tristen Finch 1st, 105 lbs. - Devin Morford 1st, 112 lbs.- Logan Snyder 1st and Nathan Fippinger 2nd, 119 lbs. Zach Nelson 1st and Peyton Holmes 3rd, 126 lbs.- Jesse Snyder 2nd, 135 lbs.- Brandon Doherty 1st and Jon Ricke 3rd, 145 lbs. - Landon McIntosh 1st, 155 lbs.- Mason Weeks 3rd and Will Drowns 4th, 167 lbs.- Bobby Lincoln 3rd, 275 lbs.- Quentin Russell 2nd. The Aledo Junior High Wrestling team competed in IESA Wrestling Sectionals in Chatham on Saturday. Of the 15 wrestlers that went from Aledo nine advanced to state competition. The Aledo team won the Sectionals by scoring the most points of all the schools there for the second year in a row.  Advancing to the IESA Boys Wrestling State Finals on March 7-8 at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb from Aledo are Bryce Skiles, Tristen Finch, Curtis Van Winkle, Landon McIntosh, Zach Nelson, Logan Snyder, Jesse Snyder, Jon Ricke and Quentin Russell.

The Aledo Girls eighth grade basketball team had an exciting game at Roseville on Monday, March 2. Earlier in the season at Aledo the Titans had won 40-20. Monday night the score was 6-12 at half and 12-14 at the end of third quarter. Aledo tied the score at 14 but the Titans held them scoreless for the rest of game to win 20-14. Aledo played very good defense with only seven players.

Birthdays in the area this month include Rich Springer on the 6th of March, his niece Peggy Kaufmann's birthday is on the 9th and Dorothy Levine's the 15th. Emily Weeks, daughter of Shelley and Pete Robinson of rural Seaton, celebrated her 11th birthday on Saturday, March 7. She was so excited with her gift of a cell phone from her Mom and Dad. She really wanted one.  Joining Emily for cake and ice cream were her grandparents, Scott and Judy Weeks and Aunt Toni Weeks and cousin Morgan, all of Aledo on Saturday afternoon at their home with her family. Emily had four of her school friends spend the night Saturday night including Katie Weeks and McKayla Clawson from the Seaton area.

There are some new books at the Seaton Library. WATCHMEN, the comic book format of the new movie; ENDER'S GAME by youth science fiction author Orson Scott Card. Also there is the latest in Kresley Cole's "Immortal Series"  WICKED DEEDS ON A WINTER'S NIGHT; and N.Y. TIMES bestseller THE SHACK  Check out all the library has to offer during their hours of Tuesday from 3:30- 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. until noon.
