Eliza to hold annual town meeting

Dick Nash/Correspondent

April 14 is the annual Eliza town meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Eliza Community Center. The purpose of the annual town meeting is to bring all the electors of the township together to discuss and consider any subject in which the township may legally act on. The 2009-2010 Budget Hearing will be at 6:45 and monthly Township meeting will follow at 7 p.m.

Eliza held its annual spring clean-up on March 27 -28, which was another success. One large dumpster, the large panel truck, and a low boy full of white goods left Eliza on time late Saturday morning, all full to the top. Bob Howe and Chad Braatz put in some long hours and a lot of work for this major project in keeping the community cleaner.

The Eliza Board of Managers will meet on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Eliza Community Center. Township meetings are open to the public.

The Eliza Community Club will meet April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Eliza Community Center.

The Eliza American Legion and Auxiliary are looking for delegates to Girls State/ Boys State in June. The Junior Class received information about the events from a meeting at Westmer High School. If you haven't seen the material, ask your junior student about it. Both events are held at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Girls State is June 14 - 20 and Boys State is June 6-12. It is a great opportunity for high school juniors to learn about how the government works and the Legion and Auxiliary pay all the expenses for the week except personal shopping. The Eliza Lions Club will meet at the Eliza Kountry Kafe on April 8 at 7 p.m. for its regular meeting and April 22 at 6:30 for the dinner meeting.
