Monday, May 18, Rockridge high school honored top of their class sponsored by the Illinois Quad City Chamber of Commerce. It's called 25th Annual Academic Achievement Awards. Haley Kitchell was named valedictorian and Chelsey Widdop salutatorian, congratulations!!

Thursday, May 21, Eric Curry, Melissa Williams, and Lorena Castor, graduated from Blackhawk College, Moline. Eric received gold and white cords, for academic achievement designated 45 hours with a grade point average 3.85. He is the son of David and Rosemary Curry. It was held at the I wireless center.

Bonnie and Dick Curry visited their son, Roger Curry and family to attend the high school graduation of Jordyn Curry, granddaughter, held at the Colorado Springs, Air Force Base. The class enrollment was over 500. Also attending the ceremony was Valerie Curry Murray, Wolfborough, New Hampshire, aunt of the graduate.

Rockridge girls' softball team earned its seventh regional title. Rockridge Rockets will face Beardstown Thursday May 28 at 4:30 p.m. at Monmouth-Roseville Sectional. Rockets scored six runs in the first two innings against Sherrard and never looked back.

A cookout Sunday, May 24 at Frank Venables honored Ben and Andrew Oak, Sylvia and Andrea of Chicago. Ben and Andrew are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Oak. Attending were Wendell and Elaine Oak, Sherry and Steve Oak, Jonathon, Stephanie, and Travis Norris, Bev and Kyle Kaisey, Beulah Venable, Frank, Sandra, and Chelsy Oak.

Joe and Mary Lou DeMarlie attended graduation exercises in Springfield, on Sunday, May 24.

Wayne and Carol Erickson entertained on Monday, May 25, Larry and Debbie Gaunt, Roswell, Georgia, Ronnnie and Pat Kerres, Mike, Mary Sue and Haley Kitchell, Dave and Tammy Erickson, Nick and Bradley.

The Memorial Day Program was held by Com. Post 1166 American Legion, Monday, May 25, at Reynolds. James Pettit was Master of Ceremonies Americanism Essay Contest Winners were announced. Class 1- 7th and 8th grade winners were Brady Ruden 3rd place, Rockridge, Kristin Vroman, 2nd place, Rockridge, Erin Peterson, 1st place, Rockridge, Class II, 9th and 10th grade winners 1st place Michael Holdsworth- Sherrard. Class III- 11th and 12th grade winners 3rd place, Haley Kitchell, Rockridge, 2nd place, Danielle Shull, Sherrard, 1st place, Mitch Heiar, Sherrard.

Reynolds American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring Rachel N. Fink, daughter of Veronica and Gregory Fink, Illinois City, as delegate to attend 69th session of Illini Girls State, June 14-20 at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston. Rachel is a junior at Rockridge.

Rachel's father is LTC in the Army. He is currently stationed in Texas and has been serving just over 30 years!

Martha Green recited in Flanders Fields and the response AugE Kerres, commander, told of many activities of the organization. Deceased members of the Legion of the last year were recognized. Rev. Jeff Jahn, Buffalo Prairie was the guest speaker.

Tyson Blaser, son of Mel and Susan Blaser, traveled to Madison, Wisconsin, Monday, May 25, where he will play in the University of Iowa baseball program for the summer.

On Memorial Day weekend, 96 teams competed in the four diamond baseball field across from the former Jaydon- complex. They were held Saturday and Sunday.
