Andalusia Kindergarten teachers retired with 32 years in the Rockridge District.

This week ended the heat wave over 90 degrees for a week. Monday, June 22 reached 95 degrees; Friday, June 19 we had one and a half inches of rain in about 15 minutes at about 6 p.m. – so much for Illinois weather.

2009 all stars boys’ area baseball players were named in The Argus. Jake Flater, Sr., Rockridge, First team all Olympic conference, Matt Lucas, Sr., Rockridge captain and Rockets most valuable player, Kyle Rettig, Jr., Rockridge, Unanimous first team all Olympic Conference, honorable mention – Brandon DeKeyrel, Mitch Goveia and Cody Hinson.

Liz Watkins, former Rockridge softball star, catches for the Hawkeyes Univ. of Iowa. Her team earned All Big Ten Conference Honors. She received honorable mention for the Freshman of the Year Honor. They played in the Atlantic Regionals.

Elizabeth Hessman and Hillary Johnson received 2009 Black Hawk District Top 10 percent Academic Achievement Awards. This award includes free tuition for district high school students in top 10 percent of their class and plan to attend Black Hawk College.

Charles Bellinger had a birthday June 30. Linda and Joe Kinnett, Selma, Ind., and Robin and Randy Bellinger, West LaFayette, Ind., had come this Friday, June 26, to spend the weekend and help him celebrate.

George Mueller was honored by the board for 32 years of service trustee and supervisor of Edington Township. Frank Venable served four years as trustee. Both received plaques. This was held Friday, June 26 at Moon River Supper Club.

Tucker Blaser, Chicago, was entertained at brunch Sunday, June 28 for his coming birthday by Mel and Susan Blaser. Attending were Frank and Sandra Venable, Chelsy Oak, Beulah Venable, Anna Gulbandson, Mel and Betty Blaser and Pam Versliys.

Coralie Krueger and Dianne Verschoore visited Bloomington, for the weekend with Wendy and Mike Divinal and family. Dianne and Wendy participated in the Race for the Cure on Friday, June 26. They also celebrated the birthday of Chase Divinal, three years, on Sunday.

Dick and Kathy Allen, Yukon, Okla., are visiting Joe and Mary Lou DeMarlie. They came Saturday, June 27. Connie Allen, Salt Lake City, Utah, came Tuesday, June 30.

Mr. and Mrs. Chad Cumby, Chicago, spent the weekend with their grandmother, Jane Cumby.
