Jim Widdop, after serving three years in the Rock Island County's Regional Office of Education as an assistant regional superintendent was sworn in July 1 as the new regional superintendent at 10 a.m. in the Rock Island County Building. Joe Vermeire retired after 20 years.

Krista Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Turner, completed her first year at Millikin University, Decatur, she is majoring in nursing. She is to be congratulated for qualifying for the Dean's List for both 1st and 2nd semesters.

Troy Clarke and Tami Parchert were married in St. John's Methodist Church, Davenport, 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4. The reception was at the Clarion Hotel. Rev. Beth Tickner officiated at the service.

John McCutchan served as pianist at the Reynolds Methodist Church Sunday July 5.

The fourth quarter honor roll at Rockridge was released this week. High honors were Jamie Mueller and Stephanie Schultz, Freshman, Brittany Schultz, junior, and Haley Kitchell and Chelsey Widdop, seniors. Krysten Bickle freshman, Dylan Roweand, Blake Sedan, juniors and Amanda Curry senior qualified for honor roll. Congratulations!

Former Rock Island baseball standout and recent Augustana College graduate, John Wagle has been awarded on NCA.A. post graduate Scholarships. He graduated in May with degrees in physics and business management. He was only baseball player in Division III to receive this award for spring sports. He earned first team All-CCIW honors.

Patrick Brooks and Casey Mooberry were married Saturday, June 27 at the Richwoods Christian Church in Peoria. Among those attending were Betty Eckhart, Aledo, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Curtis, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Curry, Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Moffitt, Illinois City, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Baraks, Moline, Ray Moffitt, Elmhurst, Sarah Brooks, Edwardsville, Mr. a nd Mrs. Don Paulsen, Lynn Center, Brian Paulsen, Moline, Justin M. Moffitt, Rock Island, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Holstine, Russell Holstine and Arlowin Paris, Mr. and Mrs. Denniss VanDaele, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Moffitt, Bob Brooks, Milan.

Dale Armstrong had gall bladder surgery, and is now recuperating in the Heartland Nursing Home, Moline.

Andrea John, daughter of Scott and Kathy John celebrated her birthday with a cook-out with family and friends July 3.

Dale and Dorothy Armstrong enjoyed ripe tomatoes this week- first this season.

Bonnie Curry made her Aunt Marna Tuist, a special footstool. This footstool makes 151 footstools that Bonnie has made in 15 years. Marna resides in the Avonlea Apartments.

Monsignor Tom Mack, Pontiac, visited Francis and Donna Mack, Monday, July 6.

Sunday, July 5, the Macks visited Tom and Marlin Marple and Vera Stout in the Mercer County Nursing Home.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe DeMarlie entertained 4th of July, Saturday, Chris, Kristen, and Ben DeMarlie, Dick an Kathy Allen, Yukon, Okla., Connie Allen and Jim, Salt Lake City, Utah, Daryl and Vickie Allen, Andy Allen and friend Curtis Allen, Beth Patrizi, Rod Elliott, Robin Mueller, and family, Merriel and Mary Allen.

The winter Texas people get-together will celebrate this week. They will visit, picnic, and go golfing.
