The DeKeyrel Market just east of Illinois City is in full swing. We are lucky to be able to stop by for tomatoes, sweet corn, Illinois peaches and baked goods. If in the area, stop by.

A note for people coming to the Illinois City parade - The United Methodist Church will be in the parade walking the route. They will be collecting non-perishable foods and monetary donations for the local food pantry. So remember your community food pantry that day.

The 'Church ladies' of Illinois City Methodist Church hosted a bridal shower for Mae Marie Freyermuth on Sunday afternoon. She is the daughter of Kim and Barb Freyermuth. A reading of Mae's highlights of youth was given by Lila Keller. An enjoyable afternoon with many useful gifts were given to the bride to be.

Abby and Andrew McAlister and boys of Illinois City, along with Amy and Bill Duncan and boys and Ali McGinnis hosted a surprise 60th birthday party for their dad- Randy McGinnis. From the past came "old" golf buddies, camping friends, workmates, and general party friends!

The group enjoyed a delicious pork chop supper. Many old pictures were displayed which caused much laughter. Randy and Laura were also celebrating their 40th anniversary. Along with the celebration the McGinnis girls Amy-Abby-Ali hosted a bridal shower for their cousins Wendy Thomas of Atlanta and Brianna Gray of Herscher. It was a fun filled evening.

Gary and Sara Krueger have enjoyed Sara's daughter Judy and husband visiting from Crystal River, Fla. They have had many activities this week. A birthday party for Lori Jarrett was enjoyed- she is Judy's younger sister who lives in the Illinois City area.

The Illinois City Methodist along with Edgington Presbyterian and Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian had a very successful vacation Bible school. The children enjoyed Bible stories, fishing, swimming, crafts, singing, games, snacks and on and on. What a great experience for area kids. Thanks to all volunteers.
