Aledo approves police contract
The Aledo City Council unanimously approved the first ever police contract on Monday night, Aug. 3, 2009, at the council meeting. The union representing police officers is the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150. At the next city council meeting on Monday, Aug.17, 2009 the contract will formally be ratified by the council.
This has been an on-going effort between both parties and recently came about with the help of a federal mediator. Most of the discussions were about language and health insurance language specifically. A mutual agreement was reached and both parties feel comfortable with the contract. The contract is a three-year contract through 2011.
