Many residents of Illinois City attended two weddings last weekend including the Mae Marie Freyermuth of Illinois City and Adam Sharp of Elgin ceremony at St. John's Methodist Church in Davenport on Saturday, Sept. 5 and the Beau Carlson of Illinois City and Melissa Matya of Edgington at St Patrick's Catholic Church. The reports were both weddings were beautiful and the brides were glowing and of course the grooms handsome.

The Illinois City United Methodist Church held its 25th annual Labor Day Breakfast. It was a great turn out - approximately 300 people. Next year we will prepare food for 300 and hope for that as a goal! In other words, we won't run out of biscuits! Also the youth car wash was a success.

The Aledo Nite Unit of Home Extension met at an "old" member's home in Illinois City. Laura McGinnis gave a tour of their log cabin and served a light supper to the unit. An evening of visiting was enjoyed. Pat Conway, Cathy Sponsler, Sharon Mayhew, Julie Losey, Elene Waters, Barb Manthe, Susan DeBlock, Carol Schmidt, Bev Gray and a former Illinois City gal, Linda Whitney were the guests.

Tim and Jenifer Thompson and family entertained family and friends on Sunday. Attending were Kelly Foglesong, Candy and Tom Terrill and family, Roger and Kelly Cary and family from Waterloo, Iowa, Clair and Marilyn Thompson, Mick and Janice Miller. A noon lunch was enjoyed with the kids having their last swim party of the season.

Clark and Pat Downey had a 60th birthday party for her brother Bill Allen. Many relatives and friends turned out for a weiner roast and potluck supper. Stories of Bill's high school days were shared around the fire pit. It was a great night and great weather.

Happy anniversary to Don and Marilyn Andress, Toni and Howard Ross and Richard and Billie Dekeyrel.

Jason and Jennifer Wolfe and Caleb enjoyed a Labor Day weekend in St. Louis. They enjoyed the zoo and the Arch on the outing. The weather was great for the trip.
