The weather was great for the annual Larry Steepleton Memorial Fast Pitch Tournament on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend at the Seaton ball diamond. There were five teams this year so five games were held on Saturday and five games on Sunday. There was also a Home Run competition. Ida Steepleton, Larry Steepleton's widow enjoyed the event as always and this year their daughter Steph and granddaughters, Kathryn and Kendall came from southern Illinois to attend the event for the first time. Steph and her husband Glenn just recently set up housekeeping in the states after making a career for Glenn in the Air Force. Steph got to see a lot of people that she knew and really enjoyed the tournament. Saturday night after the last game, Ida and the girls drove to Cambridge to the home of Ida's sister, Sandy and Lloyd DeShane. They went fishing and had a lot of fun. They stayed overnight and Steph and the girls left from there on Monday afternoon to drive back to Lebanon for school on Tuesday.

Ed Tarr of the Seaton Park District organized the tournament. The next event at the Seaton ball diamond is a 14-team kick ball tournament on the weekend of Sept. 19 and 20.

Ed and Renea Anderson had their son and daughter-in-law, Evan and Rebecca Anderson home for the long holiday weekend. Evan was having his 20th class reunion for Aledo High School. They arrived on Friday night from California. Evan and Rebecca and Renea got to go the Alexis on Saturday morning to catch part of the ninth grade volleyball tournament going on there. Morgan Weeks, Renea's granddaughter and Evan and Rebecca's niece and Renea's great niece, Brianna Weeks were playing. "Bri" is the daughter of Chris and Jo Weeks of Seaton and Morgan is the daughter of Toni and Mark Weeks of Aledo. Evan and Rebecca got to see a lot of family there at the tournament. On Sunday, Ed, Renea, Evan and Rebecca had a birthday swimming party for Anna Irene Sharar's sixth birthday at the Geneva Country Club in Muscatine, Iowa. Anna is the daughter of Joni and Andy Sharar. On Monday, Ed and Renea hosted a family potluck for all of Evan's aunts, uncles, cousins along with immediate family to get together. Friends Jason and Marcela Crawford and Dave Pullen of Joy also came.

Mera and Chad McLean were back from Wheaton for the Aledo High School class of 89 reunion also. They and their children stayed at the home of her parents, Bill and Edwina Wright in Seaton. Sue Jones of rural Seaton had her daughter Liz home for the event also.

The Ganesh Ganpat family, Ganesh, Denise and children Grant and Blake, were weekend guests at the David Duncan farm. A fun Saturday was visiting the Ray and Carol Ropp dairy farm near Normal. They watched the different steps of making cheese at their dairy, plus milked a cow, bottled fed a calf, and climbed on the bales of hay. Trent and Cael Duncan, David and Marcia's other grandchildren also got to go along.

On Sunday morning David, Marcia Duncan and their guests enjoyed the Blackwood Gospel Quartet at Central Park in Aledo.

The David Duncans, Bill Duncans, the Ganpats and Jeff Duncan went to Seven Oaks for a picnic supper with Don and Sandra Fisk of Galesburg. Their son's family, Sam and Kelly Fisk, Quentin and Beaudry, were also there for fishing and the picnic.
