Francis and M. Beverly Tingley Jr., Columbus, Ind., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during an open house on Oct. 3, 2-4 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene, 1245 McClure Road, Columbus.

Francis Tingley and M. Beverly Totten were married Oct. 4, ‘59 at the former Evangelical United Brethren Church, Alexis.

He is a retired conductor from BNSF Railroad, she is a retired dental hygenist.

They have three children: Michelle (Mike) Walls, Hope, Ind., F. David Tingley III, Waterford, Conn., and Todd (Sheryl) Tingley, Bismark. There are four grandchildren.

American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 2:30-6:30 p.m. at Alexis Community Center. Persons may sign up at their church, with Charles Johnson, or walk-in.

Clarence (Pete) Peterson, Danville, Iowa, celebrated his 80th birthday Sept. 15. He was born in Alexis on Sept. 16, ‘29, a son of Elmer and Dora (Sharp) Peterson.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet airplane mechanic. He later was a fireman for Monmouth Fire Department and was a truck driver before retiring.

He married Gerry Grinsted in Burlington, Iowa, Oct. 25, ‘68. She is deceased.

He has two step-children, four step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Elder Sue Shike has received a commission to serve Seaton Center and Sunbeam Churches through the remainder of this year. The commissioning service was held Sunday, Sept. 27 at the Sunbeam Church.

Catherine Johnson, rural North Henderson, was honored at an open house on Sunday, Sept. 20 at Floral Hall. The event was in observance of her 80th birthday.

She has one daughter, Marjorie Shunick, Galesburg, one granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter.
