Joy resident gets four years in DOC

Dana Monson, 59, was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009 at a sentencing hearing in Mercer County Court heard by Judge James G. Conway. On Nov. 11, 2008, Monson was arrested and charged with several counts of criminal sexual assault. In a plea agreement Monson admitted to one charge of criminal sexual assault, with the state agreeing to only ask for a sentence of not more than six years in the Illinois Department of corrections. All the other charges were dismissed in the plea agreement.
