Now that harvest season has arrived, everyone needs to be careful - a tractor or combine can be right over a hill. Make sure to allow plenty of time to slow down.
The Eliza Township board of managers met Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Eliza Community Center, This month's township meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at the Eliza Community Center. The meeting is open to the public.
The Eliza Lions Club meets at the Eliza Kountry Kafe on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. for its regular meeting and Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. for the dinner meeting. The group is hosting another ham sale for the holidays. Pickup for orders is Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge.
The Eliza American Legion held its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5. There is an Illinois Department of Veteran's Affairs representative at the Mercer County Courthouse on the first and third Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The representative is in the General Assistance office on the second floor.
The Eliza Community Club holds its meetings at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month. The club is planning a third annual craft and bake sale on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the community center. The Eliza Community Center is holding a benefit breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 10 a.m. for Dorothy Saddoris, who is stricken with bone cancer. There will be basket raffles, a bake sale and live auction, beginning at 9 a.m. Anyone with items to donate for the auction can contact Matt and Dee Lafever at 537-3677.
