Center Presbyterian Church in Seaton invites the Seaton community to its annual wiener roast and hay rack ride on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 5:30 p.m. The meal will be a potluck with hot dogs, buns, and drinks furnished by the church. A hay rack ride will follow the wiener roast. Bring your lawn chairs and come join the fun.
The Center Church's Women's Circle Bible study will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. to study the book of Joshua.
Marcia Duncan took grandsons, Trent and Cael Duncan, to the Children's Discovery Depot in Galesburg last Friday. Sandra Fisk and grandsons, Quentin and Beaudry Fisk joined them for the fun. As always, the Duncan boys are enthused about the real trains that pass by at regular intervals.
The Mercer County Health Department will be administering flu shots and pneumonia shots at the Seaton Fire Station on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 8 - 9 a.m. The cost is $30 for the flu shot and $45 for the pneumonia shot. Medicare may cover all or part of the cost.
The Mercer County Junior High football teams are more than halfway through their seasons. After playing Sherrard on the Sept. 29, the seventh grade team is 4-0 with a 22-8 victory. The eighth grade team battled to a 0-2 loss and that brings them to a 2-2 record so far this season. The schedule has two more games left with next week's game at Orion.
Bob Stockham had a birthday on Sunday, Oct. 4. Tom and Doris Nipper are celebrating an anniversary on Oct. 7.
