"One Nation Under God" is a program of the National Exchange Club that aims to increase appreciation of our rich religious heritage. Locally, the Exchange Club of Aledo has participated by holding a breakfast each year on the Saturday nearest Veterans' Day.

This year, the program speaker is Neil Dahlstrom, author of numerous articles and two books on local and national history. Dahlstrom studied history at Monmouth College and earned a masters degree in historical administration at Eastern Illinois University. He is the author of books on two of the most famous men in Illinois, Abraham Lincoln and John Deere. His talk will be titled, "Why History Matters." Dahlstrom will consider why Americans look to the past for inspiration and hope. He will take stories from the lives of Abraham Lincoln and John Deere, two men from Illinois who continue to inspire us today.

Dahlstrom lives in Moline with his wife Karen, formerly of Aledo. He works as a senior information analyst for John Deere.

Tickets for the event are available from any Exchange Club member, at Country Bank or at the door.
